Guilty Verdict: Man Sentenced to 28 Years for Failing to Register as Sex Offender

Tarrant County, TX – The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office announced that 60-year-old Edward Garza has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after being found guilty of failing to register annually as a sex offender.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s Sex Offender Registration & Tracking Unit launched the investigation in October 2023, revealing Garza had not complied with registration requirements since 2020.

Garza was previously convicted in 1984 for aggravated kidnapping with intent to violate or sexually abuse the victim—a conviction that mandates lifetime annual registration.

Authorities credited the FWPD for their vigilance in helping keep the community safe.
